Watchman Nee's Testimony - Excerpts from the life of a great Christian Leader

Watch man Nee(Nee Shu-Tsu) is one of my favorite authors who always inspires me. Watchman Nee shared his testimony on three seperate occasions in 1936. These testimonies were put together into the book” Watchman Nee's Testimony” by Brother Kwang-hsi Weigh.

The three sections are as follows

The first testimony: Salvation and calling.
The second testimony: (1) Learning the lesson of the cross, (2) Leading in the work, (3) God as my healer, and (4) Four aspects of work entrusted by God.
The third testimony: (1) How to live a life of faith, (2) Attitude towards money, and (3) Looking to God for fulfilling the need of literacy work.

This book gives an overview of some of the major incidents in his life. Though this doesn’t cover his complete testimony; this was really inspiring.

The testimony of Watchman Nee was written by his coworker Witness Lee in book “Watchman Nee -- A Seer of the Divine Revelation in the Present Age”. I am looking forward to read this book too. It contains a lot more details on the life of Nee.

Take a look at these following links sharing Watchman Nee’s testimony

Now Reading - The Holy Spirit my Senior Partner

Author: Paul (David) Yonggi Cho

I read a few chapters of this book and then felt that I already learnt most of the things written in that. So I closed it and turned to another book which spoke about the mysteries (the word mystery made me curious) of Holy Spirit only to find later that the new book which I started reading had a lot of theological problems. So I closed that and returned back to this book again. Then I found that the questions which I had in my mind were answered clearly in this book by Yonggi Cho.

I started thinking what made the difference when Yonggi Cho speaks about Holy Spirit. The answer is that Yonggi Cho learnt about Holy Spirit from Holy Spirit Himself and not from a theological seminary or another institution. Of course I do appreciate people going to seminary and studying theology. I too attend Bible studies happening at my workplace. But to teach and lead a congregation you need to attend the school of Holy Spirit.
This book from Yonggi Cho is trustworthy and it gives you an understanding of who Holy Spirit is from Bible as well as Pastor Cho’s experience.

The Fourth Dimension – Putting Faith to Practice

Author: David (Paul) Yonggi Cho.

When a normal man lives and dies in the 3 dimensional world Yonggi Cho speaks of a fourth dimension. Yonggi Cho: the pastor of Yoido Full Gospel Church shares with you on how to get answers to your prayers through faith. This is a very useful and practical book for a Christian believer. Cho doesn’t simply go on presenting his theology but for each an every thing he got an experience to share. That’s why I said practical.

Two important points which I learnt from this book are
1) How to get answer from God- Cho explains the step by step approach to get your prayers answered.
2) What is the difference between the written and spoken word of God? When the written word is for everyone the spoken word is for a particular person for a particular situation and the spoken word gives you “the faith of God”.

I just stated two here; but here are many new good things to learn from this book.

Death of a Guru: Seek And You Shall Find

Author: Rabi R. Maharaj
A Remarkable True Story of one Man's Search for Truth !!
Rabi is an Indian brought up in Trinidad. The biography begins with the story of Rabi’s Father who was also a yogi. Rabi remembers his father who used to spend all his time in meditation.
"For eight long years he uttered not a word. The trance-like condition he had achieved is called in the East a state of higher consciousness and can be attained only through deep meditation."
Following the path of his father Rabi also became a yogi. But his search for truth led him to Jesus. This book was really interesting for me because I could identify myself with Rabi at many instances. It helps you to distinguish between “enlightenment” and “salvation”.
Living a busy life in this world many of us fail to identify the spiritual world which surrounds us and its significance in our life. Surely this book has created much controversy; but I found Rabi’s experiences parallel to mine. I have also searched for life and found the answer with Jesus.

I read this book two years back and handed it over to my room mate in the guest house I was staying. Hope he read it :).

The Holiness of God - unveiling the mysterium tremendum

Author: R.C. Sproul

Though I used the word “Holy” quite often; I was not able to comprehend its meaning to the full extend. R.C Sproul takes the life and words of many great Christian to give us an insight into the Holiness of God. Rudolf Otto's “mysterium tremendum”; the reason for Luther’s insanity etc: are some of the points which he expands to show how God’s holiness is transcendental.

I finished reading this book two days back. The most important thing which I gained from this book is that it gave me a clear understanding between God’s mercy and justice. We blame God for injustice because we fail to distinguish between God’s mercy and justice. We often take for granted God’s mercy and when His justice is revealed it we tend to rebel. This book reminds me once again.

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. …. Romans.6:23

The Heavenly Man – Triumph under Persecution

Author: Brother Yun and Paul Hattaway

I have just finished reading this book. This book is a great help for anyone who is preparing to serve the Lord. I have heard about the persecution faced by Chinese churches from other sources, but this book gave me a picture of the scenario there.

When I started reading this I didn’t have much idea that our church (in India); is also about to go through a time of trial and persecution. This book helped me to analyze my walk with Christ and make sure that I cling to Him in all conditions. Now in the midst of trial I could feel the assurance of God; and this book helped me a lot in that.

This book tells about many supernatural ways in which God worked in brother Yun’s life. His escape from the maximum security prison is one of them. If a person doesn't believe in the events mentioned in this book it could mean that he doesn't believe in Bible either; because Bible is full of visions, Revelations, Supernatural events and Persecutions.

One verse which came to my mind after finishing this book is:

"For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.” …….Mat 16:25

Thank God for this dear brother Yun. God bless the mission ‘Back to Jerusalem’.
